*** ARREST MADE – CAPITAL MURDER AGAINST REBECCA LYNN HART ***

(Press Release, WCSO) Today, May 16, 2022, at approximately 3:00pm, Rebecca Lynn Hart was arrested on a Capital Murder warrant in regard to the death of 2-year-old Daniel Escamia. Hart is the biological mother to Daniel and was arrested without incident at the Wharton County Sheriff’s Office. Eddie Escamia, the father of the child, was arrested for endangerment of a child with bodily injury. Eddie was arrested at the Wharton County Sheriff’s Office without incident as well.

After receiving preliminary autopsy results that were conducted on May 10, 2022, from the Fort Bend County Medical Examiner’s Office it was determined that extensive injury and trauma to the head led to the death of the child. It was also concluded that this injury occurred more than once and over a period of time. It is believed the child received continued physical abuse for some time.

This case remains an active investigation. I would urge anyone with information about the case to come forward. I would like to take a moment to pay my respects to the innocent young child in this case, for he did not deserve this. Nor did Daniel have a voice to report the horrific abuse.
